New Storm Raven Kit

Here's some pics of the new storm raven. This model got panned by alot of people when pictures of it first got out on the internet, but I have to say I think its one of the best kits gw has put out in a long time. Its big, evil, has lots of cool options, and isnt at all hard to put together. I assembled it in a few hours without having to look at the instruction book. The only part that I found challenging was the glass pane over the cockpit and the turret, but thats just because this is the first marine model (I think) that has come with one of those. So here's some pics:

This is the dread grapple.

As you can see this thing dwarfs the land raider. It's easily the biggest vehicle in any marine arsenal (barring super heavies). I'm cautiously optimistic about its use in normal games of 40k, but where I think it will really shine is in apocalypse, where mobility is at a premium and the points cost isnt quite as prohibitive. I think its safe to assume that we'll see an apocalypse data sheet or two featuring this thing over the next couple of months, and that players will be able to use it as a flyer, which will make it that much harder for them to kill.

I'll post some more photos once this beast is painted. Obviously this storm raven will be carrying the heroic warriors of the XIIth Legion Astartes into battle, not the corpse-worshipping cowards of the so-called IXth. Down with the false emperor. Glory to Chaos. All your toys are belong to us.

  1. Really nice looking flying metal box you've got there! Seriously the new Stormraven has really grown on me over the past few weeks and I'm planning to purchase one for my Blood Angels army.

By the way would you do me a favor and hit me back please - here is my email:

I enjoyed meeting you this weekend at BB II and seeing your army in person. It was my favorite.
